PBNU picks Tambakberas Jombang to host 35th NU congress
The delay from Aug. 1-5 to Aug. 27-31, 2026 gives organizers more time to finish infrastructure needs.
Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama has designated Pondok Pesantren Tambakberas in Jombang, East Java, as the host of the 35th NU congress on Aug. 27-31, 2026. The decision was made during a joint daily Syuriyah-Tanfidziyah meeting at the PBNU office in Jakarta on Tuesday night. Previously, the congress was scheduled for Aug. 1-5, 2026. PBNU Rais Aam Miftachul Akhyar said the change gives the local organizing committee more time to complete unfinished infrastructure. 35th NU congress OC chief Saifullah Yusuf said organizers will immediately coordinate with PWNU Jawa Timur, PCNU Jombang, and pesantren in Tambakberas, especially to prepare lodging, commission meeting rooms, and transportation for participants.
