Paus Leo XIV will undergo surgery in the coming days after doctors found a small nodule in his lung during a routine examination. The 71-year-old leader of the Catholic Church delivered the news himself to thousands of faithful during the Angelus prayer in St. Peter's Square, Vatikan, on Sunday (11/10). He said the nodule was detected at a very early stage and was well localized, leading the medical team to recommend surgery to prevent further complications. Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office, said the operation is scheduled for early this week at Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital in Roma. Vatikan expects the Pope to need about one week to recover after the procedure.
