Pasar Senen becomes busiest long-distance rail station by May 2026
Passenger volume reached 3.15 million, topping Gambir at 2.60 million and Yogyakarta at 2.57 million in January-May 2026.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia recorded Pasar Senen Station as Indonesia's busiest long-distance rail station for passenger movement in January-May 2026. The total reached 3.155.845 movements, including 1.670.428 passengers boarding and 1.485.417 alighting. That put Pasar Senen ahead of Gambir Station with 2.603.087 passengers, Yogyakarta 2.574.177, Semarang Tawang 1.736.897, and Surabaya Gubeng 1.547.309. KAI said Pasar Senen plays a strong role as an intercity travel hub from Jakarta to cities across Java. The station is also connected to the Commuter Line Cikarang/Bekasi and Transjakarta service at Halte Senen, allowing long-distance passengers to continue on to the city center, residential areas, commercial districts, education centers, and other destinations.
