Pangdam denies TNI kidnapped Mama Sinta, says she left for Jakarta freely
Family had lost contact since May 24 before Mama Sinta surfaced at Polda Metro Jaya on May 29 to file a report.
Pangdam XXIV/Mandala Trikora Maj. Gen. Frits Wilem Rizard Pelamonia denied allegations that the TNI was involved in the kidnapping of Yasinta Moiwend, known as Mama Sinta. He said Mama Sinta’s trip to Jakarta was not made under duress and rejected speculation that officers transported her on a particular aircraft. According to Frits, clarification also came from Mama Sinta herself, who was said to have stated that she had never been kidnapped and was safe and in good health. The dispute surfaced after the family lost contact with her starting on 24 May. On 29 May, Mama Sinta went to Polda Metro Jaya to report the head of LBH Papua Merauke, identified as JTW, over the documentary film “Pesta Babi: Kolonialisme di Zaman Kita”.
