Palace defends rise in Pertamax to Rp16.250 per liter

The government kept subsidized fuel prices unchanged and is preparing a policy scheme to protect purchasing power.

The Palace defended the increase in non-subsidized fuel prices after PT Pertamina Patra Niaga raised the price of Pertamax RON 92 from Rp12.300 to Rp16.250 per liter and Pertamax Green 95 from Rp12.900 to Rp17.000 on 10 June 2026. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the price of Pertamax must follow the rise in world oil prices, while subsidized fuel remains unchanged. The government kept the price of Pertalite at Rp10.000 per liter and Solar at Rp6.800 per liter. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia also said the adjustment applies to non-subsidized fuel, while the government is preparing a policy scheme to maintain public purchasing power. The Palace explanation came amid a student protest at Bundaran HI, Jakarta, demanding lower prices for basic goods and fuel.
