Pakistan, Iran report progress on Hormuz reopening talks

Pakistan and Iran said they made significant progress in Tehran talks focused on de-escalating the US-Israeli war on Iran, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and speeding an end to the conflict. Pakistan's military said army chief Asim Munir met Iranian leaders to discuss steps to prevent further escalation and advance a negotiated settlement. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who traveled with Munir, described the exchange with President Masoud Pezeshkian as constructive. The visit came after Donald Trump warned of economic consequences for countries providing Iran with any lifeline, while Tehran threatened to shut down Gulf oil exports. Munir had spoken with Trump before the trip.
