The animal was secured about half an hour after leaving the zoo grounds and returned to its exhibit.
An orangutan from Solo Safari escaped the zoo area in Solo, Central Java, on Tuesday (18/8) and crossed into a trading area to the west. Video circulating online showed the animal in a restaurant parking lot, pushing one motorbike over so it fell onto another before walking into the restaurant. A witness named Eko said the response took about half an hour. Solo Safari Marketing Manager Danu Widi Kismara confirmed the animal came from Solo Safari. He said Taman Safari Indonesia Group deployed an internal team to secure the situation on the ground. The orangutan was later secured and returned to its exhibit in controlled condition.
