Oracle files $20 billion stock and bond sale for AI expansion

What's new: Shares fell 8.8% after the filing, even though Oracle had previewed the fundraising and tied it to its 2030 growth plan.

Oracle filed plans Monday to raise $20 billion through a split sale of $10 billion in common stock and $10 billion in senior notes, extending its push to fund a large artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout. The company said the proceeds may go toward capital spending, debt repayment and future investments. Investors reacted sharply, sending the stock down 8.8%. Oracle had already sketched out the financing at an investor day last week, when it forecast at least $225 billion in fiscal 2030 revenue and said the $20 billion would cap additional capital-markets funding for its 2027-2030 investment cycle. The company expects to reach positive free cash flow in the second half of 2028.
