OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT Work with GPT-5.6 for office tasks
What's new: The tool starts with Pro, Enterprise and Edu users, with cheaper smaller models aimed at winning more corporate customers.
OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT Work on July 9, pairing its chatbot with the Codex coding tool to help users create documents, presentations and websites. The new product runs on GPT-5.6, OpenAI's latest model, whose release had been delayed in June after a US government request tied to national security concerns. The launch targets office workers who are not programmers and comes as OpenAI battles Anthropic for higher-margin enterprise clients. OpenAI also introduced three sizes of the 5.6 model, arguing the smaller versions can handle many tasks at far lower cost, and added a desktop app and hosted website-sharing feature.
