On 11th Indonesia Museum Day, AMI urges public to visit museums
The push comes as the government prepares to revitalize more than 200 museums, heritage sites and palaces in 2026.
The Indonesian Museum Association is urging the public to use Indonesia Museum Day on Oct. 12 as a moment to strengthen the role of museums in preserving the nation’s character and Nusantara culture. AMI Chairman Putu Supadma Rudana said museums are not merely places to store historical objects, but spaces to learn about Indonesia’s history, identity and civilization. AMI is promoting the theme “Museum di Hatiku - Sehati Museum” to bring the public closer to museums. The appeal comes amid government attention to the museum sector, including the revitalization of Museum Kesaktian Pancasila in Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta, which was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on Oct. 1, 2026. Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the renovation includes updated narratives, exhibition flow, digital technology and an immersive experience.
