Ombudsman flags 255 BPJS Kesehatan complaints in 5 years

Most complaints involved services not provided, procedural violations and prolonged delays, the Ombudsman said.

The Indonesian Ombudsman has highlighted 255 public complaints related to BPJS Kesehatan services over the past five years and urged efforts to prevent maladministration so public service quality improves. In a meeting with BPJS Kesehatan executives in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7), Ombudsman RI member Maneger Nasution said prevention should come first because maladministration can erode public trust. The Ombudsman is also still awaiting follow-up on a 2025 systemic study on optimizing health services at Rumah Sakit Pratama. According to the Ombudsman, the most frequently reported allegations were services not provided, procedural violations, and prolonged delays. BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito acknowledged there are still challenges in serving participants and said the agency is ready to follow up on improvement recommendations.
