Nurdin Halid urges national economic system law after Prabowo speech
He links the proposal to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution and government programs, including village cooperatives in 83,000 areas.
DPR RI member Nurdin Halid pushed for a National Economic System Law after President Prabowo Subianto stressed the importance of Pancasila Economics at the Pancasila Anniversary on 1 June 2026. In a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, Nurdin said a new law is needed so the direction of national economic development has a stronger legal basis. He linked the idea to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution and MPR/XVI/1998 Decree. Nurdin also said several Prabowo-Gibran government programs reflect those principles, including the Merah Putih Village/Subdistrict Cooperative, which is targeted to reach about 83,000 villages and subdistricts. He warned, however, that the cooperative must be managed professionally, owned by members, and controlled democratically so it does not repeat the failure of KUD during the New Order era.
