North Carolina teen charged with 3 murders in San Diego mosque attack

What's new: Prosecutors said the 17-year-old could face life without parole under North Carolina aiding-and-abetting law.

A North Carolina grand jury indicted a 17-year-old girl on three murder counts and one conspiracy count for her alleged role in the May 18 attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego that killed three people. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill said prosecutors accused Sarah Lindsey Santiago of helping the shooters by recording a livestream, distributing the video and publishing their manifesto. The gunmen, Caleb Vazquez, 18, and Cain Clark, 17, killed security guard Amin Abdullah, caretaker Mansour Kaziha and Nadir Awad before taking their own lives. Officials said 140 children were at the mosque school during the attack, and investigators believe the pair also planned attacks on a Jewish temple and a predominantly Black high school.
