Newcastle sign Amar Dedic from Benfica in roughly £30m deal
What's next: The 24-year-old right-back could debut against Liverpool on Sunday with Tino Livramento still sidelined.
Newcastle United have completed the signing of defender Amar Dedic from Benfica for about £30 million, adding a right-back who could go straight into the lineup for Sunday’s opener against Liverpool. The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international signed a five-year contract after a medical on Tyneside. Dedic previously played under Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle at Red Bull Salzburg, where they won the Austrian title in 2023. Newcastle moved to strengthen the position after Kieran Trippier left on a free transfer earlier this summer, while Tino Livramento is still recovering from a calf injury sustained on England duty in June.
