Netflix cuts about 1,000 jobs in its biggest layoff since 2022
What's new: The roughly 6% reduction hit product, tech, legal and HR as Netflix pushes deeper into ads, live shows and gaming.
Netflix is cutting about 6% of its workforce, or roughly 1,000 jobs, marking the company’s largest layoff round since 2022. The cuts were described in an internal email to employees from co-CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Reuters. The bulk of the reductions are expected in product, technology, legal and human resources. Netflix had about 16,000 full-time employees at the end of 2025. The job cuts come as the streaming company faces fierce competition for viewers’ time in a more consolidated media market, even as it expands beyond subscriptions into advertising, live programming and gaming.
