Netanyahu backs Argentina ahead of 2026 World Cup final
The backing was delivered directly to Argentina's president when the ambassador presented the national team jersey in Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced support for Argentina ahead of the 2026 World Cup final against Spain. He made the remarks when he met Argentina's ambassador to Israel, Rabbi Shimon Axel Wahnish, who presented the Argentina national team jersey. During the meeting, Wahnish also carried a message from Argentina President Javier Milei. Netanyahu then sent greetings directly to Milei and said Israel supports Argentina. The stance reflects the close Israel-Argentina relationship under Milei, who since late 2023 has repeatedly expressed open support for Israel and has visited the country several times.
