Kemenag Rejects Rumor Nasaruddin Umar Will Quit for PBNU Race

Sekjen Kemenag said Nasaruddin remains focused on helping President Prabowo and no resignation was discussed with the Palace.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has denied reports that Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar resigned to enter the race for PBNU chairman. Kemenag Public Relations and Communications Bureau head Thobib Al Asyhar called the information circulating on social media and messaging apps hoax and stressed that no resignation letter had been submitted to the Palace. A day later, Kemenag Secretary General Kamaruddin Amin said Nasaruddin remained focused on carrying out his duties helping President Prabowo Subianto as Religious Affairs Minister. The issue surfaced after reports linked Nasaruddin to the 35th NU Congress in Jombang, East Java. Kemenag said Nasaruddin chose to continue his work on religious guidance, religious education and interfaith harmony.
