Muslims held an Istisqa prayer at Bundaran Besar in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on Sunday (23/8), as an effort to ask for rain amid a prolonged dry spell. The sunnah prayer was intended to help end the drought and the forest and land fires threatening the area. The event was attended by local government officials, TNI/Polri, religious leaders, civic groups and residents. The open-air prayer marked a spiritual response from the community as concerns grew over the impact of the dry season and karhutla in Central Kalimantan.
