MRT Monas to connect to Gambir, opening targeted for 2027
Design for the link is still being refined with KAI, while CP 201 work on the Bundaran HI-Monas corridor is 92%-93% complete.
PT MRT Jakarta is preparing to integrate Monas MRT Station with Gambir Station to make it easier for passengers to transfer among MRT, KRL and intercity trains in central Jakarta. The connecting line is designed to link Monas Station on the west side of the Monumen Nasional area with Gambir Station on the east side, alongside the Gambir revitalization plan being prepared by PT KAI. MRT Jakarta construction director Weni Maulina said the connection design is still being developed with KAI. MRT Jakarta is also preparing an operational management scheme; maintenance of Monas Station and Thamrin Station will later fall under MRT Jakarta, in coordination with Dinas Perhubungan DKI Jakarta. For the CP 201 package of Phase 2A, physical progress on the Bundaran HI-Monas corridor has reached 92%-93% and is targeted for completion and full operation by the end of 2027.
