MPR submits PPHN draft to Prabowo at Istana, enters MPR stage

The MPR leadership, headed by Ahmad Muzani, submitted a draft of the Pokok-Pokok Haluan Negara (PPHN) to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (3/8). In the meeting, MPR and the President also discussed the direction of the PPHN as a national development guideline that would apply across administrations, not just for one term. According to Muzani, Prabowo in principle handed the process for setting the PPHN to the constitutional mechanism in MPR. After being handed to the President, the draft will be discussed further in MPR before being adopted. The PPHN is being prepared as a legal document that sets out strategic policy direction and national development guidelines, with a function said to be similar to GBHN, which was removed after amendments to the 1945 Constitution.
