MK rejects judicial review over expired internet quota
The case was dismissed on formal grounds after the initial filing lacked a signature and the corrected version missed the deadline.
The Constitutional Court ruled that a petition for judicial review of a disputed rule over expired internet data quota was inadmissible. Chief Justice Suhartoyo read out the decision at a hearing at the MK RI building in Jakarta on Wednesday in case Number 165/PUU-XXIV/2026 filed by Gita Putri Akhyun. The petition challenged Article 71 number 2 of Law Number 6 of 2023 on Job Creation in conjunction with Article 28 of Law Number 36 of 1999 on Telecommunications. The petitioner argued that the rule covered only telecommunications service tariffs and did not provide adequate protection for unused internet quota already purchased by consumers. Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra said the petition failed to meet formal requirements because it was not accompanied by evidence, the corrections were submitted after the deadline, and the original document did not bear the petitioner's signature.
