MIND ID pushes Indonesia mining to shift from exports to industry
The state-owned mining holding aims to expand mineral processing, integrate value chains and secure technology transfer through foreign partners.
MIND ID is pushing Indonesia’s mineral management to move beyond extraction and commodity sales toward a base for national industrialization. The mining holding said strategic mineral reserves should be processed domestically to generate more added value and strengthen the economy’s structure. MIND ID Division Head of Institutional Relations Selly Adriatika said the effort includes expanding mineral processing, building downstream industries, and integrating strategic mineral value chains with the manufacturing sector. According to data from Badan Geologi, Indonesia holds about 42 percent of the world’s nickel reserves, along with tin, bauxite, gold, copper and coal. MIND ID is also seeking partnerships with industry players and international investors to speed technology transfer and widen market access for downstream products.
