Michigan health officials said residents can return to normal lettuce and salad-greens consumption after new cyclospora infections and related emergency room visits slowed. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said most contaminated produce is likely no longer on the market and ended its advice to avoid bagged salad mixes, while still urging people to steer clear of recalled items. Michigan has logged more than 12,400 cases, 279 hospitalizations and two deaths since June. Officials linked the multistate outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce served at some Taco Bell restaurants, supplied by Taylor Farms and sourced from central Mexico. Taco Bell said it no longer uses lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico.
