Michigan Democrats are voting Tuesday in a closely watched Senate primary between U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and former Wayne County health director Abdul El-Sayed, a contest that has exposed a sharp split between the party’s moderate and progressive wings. Stevens, a four-term congresswoman backed by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, has leaned on her manufacturing record and electability argument. El-Sayed, endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has pushed Medicare for All, campaign finance reform and an end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
