Mexican influencer Cesar Gastelum killed during Culiacan livestream

What's new: Gunmen on a motorcycle fled after the shooting, and no arrests had been reported as investigators reviewed CCTV and shell casings.

Mexican social media influencer Cesar Gastelum was shot dead while livestreaming with friends outside a fast food restaurant in Culiacan, Sinaloa, on Tuesday evening. Local authorities said two men on a motorcycle wearing helmets approached the group and one opened fire at close range before they fled. Gastelum, a 24-year-old comedy creator with nearly 600,000 TikTok followers, died at the scene. Police and forensic teams cordoned off the area and began examining shell casings and security camera footage. Officials have not reported any arrests or publicly identified a motive. The killing comes as Culiacan remains gripped by violence tied to rival organized crime factions in Sinaloa. Mexican media and officials also linked the case to wider concerns after other influencers, including Valeria Marquez and Leobardo Aispuro, were killed in separate attacks.
