Mercedes burns after hitting truck on Jagorawi Toll Road, 2 dead
Police have not identified the victims because their bodies and documents were burned, while the truck driver survived.
Two people were killed after the Mercedes-Benz they were riding in struck the rear of a container truck on the Jagorawi Toll Road at KM 1.400 A southbound in East Jakarta on Friday morning. The violent impact sparked flames that then engulfed the car, while the driver of the B 9509 UIY container truck, driven by Egi Hermawan, survived. The East Jakarta Metro Police traffic unit said the B 2538 STM Mercedes was traveling from north to south in lane two before hitting the truck at about 02:15 WIB. Police took the bodies to RS Polri for an autopsy and identification because the victims' bodies and identity documents were burned. The vehicles involved were also secured at the Jagorawi Toll Road tow yard, and investigators are still examining the cause of the crash and fire.
