Medan chicken prices hit Rp50.000 per kg; Sumut deploys team
TPID Sumut is checking stocks, supply and distribution as prices have climbed well above the government reference level.
Prices of broiler chicken meat at a number of traditional markets in Medan rose to around Rp45.000-Rp50.000 per kilogram, prompting the North Sumatra provincial government to deploy a joint team to the field. North Sumatra Industry, Trade, Energy and Mineral Resources Agency head Dedi Jaminsyah Putra Harahap said the monitoring was carried out to check prices, stock availability, supply and the distribution chain directly at traditional markets in Medan on Thursday (27/8). TPID Sumut is paying special attention because the recent price surge is far above the government's reference purchase price. The monitoring also involved Bank Indonesia, BPS Provinsi Sumut, Perum Bulog, the Food Task Force, and district and city governments across North Sumatra.
