McConnell says June fall left him briefly unconscious
What's new: The 84-year-old senator said tests found no stroke, heart attack, tumors or hemorrhages, and he is in rehab after mild pneumonia.
Sen. Mitch McConnell said Sunday that a fall on June 14 led to his hospitalization and left him briefly unconscious, ending weeks of silence about his condition. The Kentucky Republican, 84, said doctors found no broken bones, concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumors or hemorrhages. He added that he was treated for mild pneumonia and has been moved to a rehabilitation facility. McConnell said he is regaining strength and will keep working with his staff, but cannot return to the Senate yet. His office had released few details since the hospitalization, prompting growing speculation and a public call for more transparency from Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear.
