MBG to Become One Indicator for Rp1 Trillion Local Aid in 2027
The funds are not earmarked for MBG alone; Kemendagri is drafting added performance measures with BGN, including possible stunting cuts.
National Nutrition Agency head Sudaryono said the Free Nutritious Meals Program will become one of the benchmarks for distributing a total of Rp1 trillion in local government incentives starting next year. He stressed that the money is not a special budget for MBG, but an additional incentive from the Ministry of Home Affairs for regions judged to have performed well on several indicators. So far, similar incentives have been given for achievements such as controlling inflation, reducing unemployment and lowering poverty. According to Sudaryono, the government is now working with BGN to draw up new MBG-related indicators, including the possibility of using measures such as lower stunting rates or program service performance. He added that the goal of MBG is not only to expand the program, but also to maintain menu quality so it can support children's growth and development over the long term.
