Martinez's attack on Wilcox deepens turmoil at Manchester United
What's new: Reports said teammates largely share his frustration over recruitment, though one challenged him after the loss at Atletico Madrid.
Lisandro Martinez's public criticism of Jason Wilcox has intensified Manchester United's turmoil after a 2-0 Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid. British media reported that frustration over recruitment and squad depth is widely felt inside the dressing room, even as Martinez's remarks created new tension within the squad. The defender said United lacked the squad quality and ambition needed to match top rivals, directing blame at Wilcox and the club hierarchy rather than only at coach Michael Carrick or the players. United have won two matches all season and have taken six points from their first six Premier League games, their worst league start in 40 years.
