Man City reject Barcelona’s £38.5m Rodri bid, seek at least £60m

What's new: Barcelona reportedly returned with a second offer of about £51.4m as talks continued over the Spain midfielder.

Manchester City turned down Barcelona’s opening £38.5 million offer for Rodri and want at least £60 million to let the midfielder leave this summer. The 30-year-old Spain international is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Spanish champions after deciding he wants to return home. Barcelona pushed for the move after Frenkie de Jong suffered a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for months. BBC Sport, citing Spanish reports, said Barcelona later raised their offer to about £51.4 million. Rodri joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has declined a contract extension.
