Man City reject Barcelona's £38.5m Rodri bid, seek at least £60m

What's new: Barcelona reportedly returned with a second offer of about £51.4 million as talks over the Spain midfielder continued.

Manchester City turned down Barcelona's opening £38.5 million bid for Rodri and are holding out for at least £60 million for the Spain midfielder, according to multiple reports. The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract and is understood to have agreed personal terms with Barcelona after deciding he wants to return to Spain. Barcelona have kept negotiating and BBC Sport's transfer roundup, citing Spanish outlet Sport, said the club raised its offer to about £51.4 million. Rodri joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has rejected a contract extension. Barcelona's push comes with Frenkie de Jong facing months out with a knee injury.
