Malaysian man faces forgery charge over fake passes at Woodlands

A 23-year-old Malaysian man is due in court on Aug. 13 after Singapore authorities found fake employee passes and official-looking stamps on him at Woodlands Checkpoint. Immigration officers pulled him aside for enhanced checks at the arrival bus hall on Aug. 11, where they found several passes bearing his photograph and inking instruments carrying the emblems of the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Police said he had no employment history with any of the organizations named on the passes. He will be charged with making or possessing a counterfeit instrument with intent to commit forgery, an offense punishable by up to seven years in jail and a fine.
