Macron plans Versailles dinner for Trump after G7 summit in France

What's next: The two leaders are expected to discuss the Iran war, Strait of Hormuz demining and other summit talks.

French President Emmanuel Macron plans to host President Donald Trump for dinner at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday after next week's G7 summit in France. Macron's office tied the visit to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and called Versailles a symbol of Franco-American friendship. Trump is due in France on Monday for the summit in Evian-les-Bains, where he is also expected to meet leaders from Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and India. U.S. officials expect the wars in Iran and Ukraine to dominate talks, including possible plans with allies to remove mines from the Strait of Hormuz if fighting pauses.
