MA, KY flag water-dousing of Pati judge amid bribery claim

The Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission have flagged an incident in which water was thrown on Retno Lestari, a judge and spokeswoman for the Pati District Court, during a meeting at PN Pati in Central Java on Friday (9/10). During the meeting, Supriyono alias Botok, coordinator of Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu, also alleged that a judge had received a Rp1 miliar bribe. MA said the act was unjustified and would be followed up in accordance with legal provisions. KY said the incident amounted to conduct that demeaned the honor of judges and the court, and it had coordinated with PN Pati on security. KY said the hearing in case Number 5/Pid.Pra/2026/PN.Pti is still under way until October 16.
