Landslide in Lembah Anai fully cuts Padang-Bukittinggi route
The road has been closed since about 13.30 WIB, while heavy equipment cannot work because the hillside remains unstable.
A landslide in the Lembah Anai area of Tanah Datar Regency, Sumatera Barat, fully cut the main Padang-Bukittinggi route on Wednesday (24/6) afternoon. Soil and rocks covered the National Road Lintas Padang-Bukittinggi near the twin bridge area. Police temporarily closed vehicle access after another landslide occurred around 13.30-13.38 WIB, following heavy rain that hit the area since morning. AKP Pifzen Finot, head of traffic at Polres Padang Panjang, said two heavy equipment units were already at the site, but clearing could not begin because the slope is still moving and rocks continue to fall. Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes or wait until conditions are declared safe. So far, there have been no fatalities.
