Long dry spell leaves 370 Boyolali, Grobogan residents short of water
Dompet Dhuafa delivered 36,000 liters by four tank trucks after rain failed to fall since late May in several locations.
An extended dry spell has left 370 residents in Boyolali and Grobogan, Central Java, struggling to find clean water, prompting Dompet Dhuafa Jawa Tengah to distribute 36,000 liters in late July 2026. The aid was delivered by four tank trucks, each with a 9,000-liter capacity, to Dukuh Joho, Desa Sambeng, Kecamatan Juwangi, Boyolali, and to two locations in Kecamatan Kedungjati, Grobogan: Dukuh Kedung Bunder in Desa Kedungjati and Dukuh Brumbung in Desa Panimbo. According to Nur Cholis of Dompet Dhuafa, rain at those sites has not fallen since late May. Residents have dug small wells at the bottom of dried-up riverbeds and walked about 500 meters to 1 kilometer to collect water. The drought has also hit the local economy as fields dry out, corn farmers are unable to plant, and livestock breeders are affected.
