Long Beach seeks probe after US citizen injured in ICE detention

What's new: The mayor filed a Homeland Security complaint alleging repeated Taser use and significant injuries during Saturday's encounter.

Long Beach officials are pressing for a federal investigation after a city resident identified as Ricardo Gonzalez was injured while being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents over the weekend. Mayor Rex Richardson said in a complaint to the Department of Homeland Security that Gonzalez, a former city employee, was repeatedly shocked with a Taser, forcibly restrained and left with significant injuries. Video posted by StopICE.net shows a man yelling for help and saying his arm was broken as agents pinned him against a curb. Long Beach police said officers found Gonzalez handcuffed and bleeding, then took him to a fire station before he was transported to a hospital. Rep. Robert Garcia said Gonzalez is a US citizen and called the incident disturbing.
