Liverpool lock up Szoboszlai with new 5-year deal through 2031
Why it matters: The 25-year-old had two years left, and the extension ends months of uncertainty over one of Liverpool’s key players.
Liverpool signed Dominik Szoboszlai to a new five-year contract that keeps the midfielder at Anfield through 2031, ending months of talks over his future. The 25-year-old joined from RB Leipzig in 2023 for about £60 million and grew into one of Liverpool’s most important players last season, scoring 13 goals and adding 12 assists. Szoboszlai, Hungary’s captain, said he still believes he can improve and wants to win domestic honors and the Champions League. The deal gives Liverpool and new head coach Andoni Iraola a measure of stability after a difficult season and amid wider squad turnover this summer.
