Liverpool land Spain winger Victor Munoz in £34.5m deal
What's next: The 22-year-old is set to sign a six-year contract after a medical in Atlanta while with Spain at the World Cup.
Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz after moving to meet his 40 million euro, or about £34.5 million, release clause. The 22-year-old underwent a medical on Wednesday in Atlanta, where he is with Spain’s World Cup squad, and is expected to sign a six-year contract. Liverpool beat Newcastle to the deal after the club stepped up its pursuit following Andoni Iraola’s appointment as head coach. Munoz, who can play on either wing, scored seven goals and supplied five assists in 36 appearances last season. Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen were also interested in the Spain international.
