Lamborghini fire snarls Singapore's ECP for hours; no injuries

What's new: Traffic backed up to Rochor Road and four bus services were delayed by up to 25 minutes after the blaze.

A Lamborghini caught fire on Singapore's East Coast Parkway on July 23, disrupting traffic for hours but causing no injuries. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted at about 5.20 p.m. to a fire on the ECP toward Changi, before the Still Road South exit. The blaze involved the car's engine compartment and was put out with a water jet. Videos shared online showed the bright green sports car engulfed in flames on the road shoulder as responders closed the left-most lane. The Land Transport Authority warned drivers at 5.26 p.m. to avoid the stretch after Tanjong Katong, and later said congestion extended between Marine Parade and Rochor Road. An alert on MyTransport.SG said bus services 12e, 36, 48 and 518 were delayed by up to 25 minutes. The cause is under investigation.
