KPK Catches Muara Enim Regent in Sting Operation, 10 Detained
New: five of those detained were from the Muara Enim regency government and five were from private firms; KPK has 1x24 hours to decide their status.
KPK detained Muara Enim Regent H Edison in a sting operation on Monday (8/6), along with a total of 10 people in Jakarta and South Sumatra. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said five of those detained were from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the regent, while five others were from the private sector.
KPK deputy chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the operation, but gave no details on the case because the enforcement team was still working in the field. Several reports also said offices at the Muara Enim regency government were sealed, including the Education Office. Under the Criminal Procedure Code, KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the status of those detained in the sting operation.
