KPK calculates state losses in trillions in PT Djarum excise case
Investigators have not yet disclosed the time frame, and suspect the excise irregularities may have stretched back several years.
KPK estimates initial state losses at trillions of rupiah in a corruption probe into state revenue in the excise sector that involves PT Djarum. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the case concerns excise, unlike a case handled by Kejaksaan Agung that is suspected to involve taxes. KPK has not disclosed the exact time of the alleged offense, but said investigators will trace the suspected irregularities back several years. To gather evidence, investigators searched locations in Kudus. PT Djarum said it respects and complies with the legal process underway. KPK has also not detailed what was seized because follow-up searches are still ongoing.
