KPK uncovers extortion fees for WNA stay permits in Bali
KPK said agents had to pay “click money” to get KITAS, KITAP and other applications processed.
KPK disclosed that the alleged extortion rates in processing residence permits for foreign nationals in Bali ranged from Rp100 ribu to Rp2,5 juta per application. Investigators found the practice at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and the Denpasar Immigration Office after questioning six witnesses in Bali on Thursday night. According to KPK, agents or applicants were forced to pay levies outside the official immigration PNBP fees for KITAS, KITAP, and other files to move forward. If they did not pay, the application was said to be “not clicked,” a term in the case known as uang klik. The case is part of an investigation into alleged extortion in the processing of WNA stay permits during 2022-2026 involving Silmy Karim and seven other suspects. KPK previously carried out an OTT on 2-3 June and estimated the gains from the scheme at Rp145,5 miliar.
