Korlantas corrects hoax on full manual ticketing, 150% fine hike
Polri still prioritizes ETLE; manual tickets are used only in limited cases for dangerous violations such as street racing and wrong-way driving.
Korlantas Polri said social media posts claiming the nationwide return of manual ticketing and a 150% increase in traffic fines in 2026 are false. Head of the Polri Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo, said traffic law enforcement still prioritizes Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement, including both static ETLE and mobile ETLE. Manual ticketing, he said, remains possible but only selectively and in situational cases for clear violations that carry a risk of fatalities. Direct enforcement targets include modified loud exhausts, street racing, wrong-way driving and reckless driving. Korlantas also asked the public to verify information through the official NTMC Korlantas channels before sharing it.
