Kopassus lieutenant dies in arms depot, 1 officer named suspect

Kopassus has named Letda Inf AG a suspect in the incident that killed Letda Inf Jihad Ahmad Al Rasyid at the weapons depot of Grup 2 Kopassus in Kartasura, Sukoharjo, Central Java, on Sabtu (24/10). Based on the initial examination and CCTV footage, the incident was believed to have occurred during a weapon-unloading procedure, when a pistol exploded because of negligence, not an intentional shooting as described in social media posts. Kopassus information chief Colonel Inf Indra Mardianto said the case and evidence had been handed over to Denpom IV/4 Surakarta. The evidence secured includes one pistol, one magazine, one shell casing and CCTV footage. The suspect has been detained for further investigation and faces article 474 paragraph (3) of the KUHP, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
