DPR Commission XI backs Destry Damayanti for BI governor
The nomination will next go to a DPR plenary session for final confirmation of BI’s 2026-2031 leadership.
DPR RI Commission XI approved Destry Damayanti as the selected Bank Indonesia Governor for the 2026-2031 term. In the same decision, the commission also approved Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and chose Solikin M. Juhro as BI Deputy Governor for the same term. Commission XI Chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun said the decision was made in an internal meeting after a series of fit-and-proper tests for the central bank leadership candidates. Destry and Aida were submitted as sole candidates through a presidential letter to the DPR, while the deputy governor post was chosen from two names, Solikin and M. Anwar Bashori. The commission's decision is next scheduled to be brought to a DPR RI plenary session for confirmation.
