Komisi IX backs donation of BGN electric bikes to contract teachers
New: DPR says the SPPG vehicle purchase did not fit needs, lacked reporting, and may have involved a price markup.
Deputy Chairman of Komisi IX DPR Yahya Zaini said he supports Badan Gizi Nasional’s plan to donate electric motorcycles originally bought for Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi operations to contract teachers in various regions. He said the donation could be a way to ensure the asset, bought with state funds, still provides benefits. But Yahya criticized the vehicle purchase from the start, saying it did not suit the needs of managers of kitchens for the free nutritious meal program. He also said Komisi IX never received a report on the purchase, so budget oversight did not run optimally. Yahya also pointed to a supplier that he said lacked an adequate dealer network and service support, and he suspected the vehicle price had been marked up. Separately, BGN deputy head Agustina Arumsari previously said the 2025 procurement was being traced item by item and its use was still under discussion amid the prosecutor’s process.
