Komisi III to decide on 14 Supreme Court candidates today
DPR also rejected a chain message alleging extortion of fit-and-proper-test participants and told recipients to report it to police.
Komisi III DPR is scheduled to decide Thursday afternoon on the results of fit-and-proper tests for 14 candidates for the Mahkamah Agung, including 11 calon hakim agung and three calon hakim ad hoc HAM and tipikor. The decision could approve all names, only some, or reject them all before being brought to a plenary session. Amid the process, Komisi III denied a chain message using the name of the committee leadership and asking candidates for participation funds. Komisi III member Nasir Djamil called the message a scam and urged recipients to report it to the police. Earlier, a civil society coalition including LeIP, Transparency International Indonesia, YLBHI, IJRS, KontraS, and ICW criticized the Komisi Yudisial selection and urged DPR to rigorously test candidates' integrity and capacity.
