Komisi III summons Polda Sumut over ex-police wife’s death

Komisi III DPR urged Polda Sumatera Utara and Polresta Medan to conduct a transparent investigation into the death of WL, the former wife of a Polri member in Medan, which was initially described as a suicide involving a firearm. Komisi III chairman Habiburokhman said DPR would monitor the case and summon Polda Sumut, Polresta Medan and the victim’s family for a public hearing on 11 August.
The case came to light after the victim’s father, Sanalui Gowasa, reported Bripda IH to Polda Sumut over alleged murder. Family lawyer Paul Junisu Jethro Tambunan said the family saw bruising, knee injuries and signs of strangulation on the neck when the body arrived at the funeral home. L was found dead in a house in Kompleks Bumi Asri, Medan Helvetia, on 2 August. Police had earlier said preliminary autopsy results pointed to suicide, but the exact cause of death remains under investigation, and Propam Polda Sumut is also examining the role of Bripda IH.
